2019 Professors Without Borders Program Tour: Thailand

Professors Without Borders is back to host our 2019 short courses! This year, we will be hosting 5 programs and sending 15 academics and professionals around the world to teach over 500 students. Our short courses are based in the London School of Economics summer school model to give students the opportunity to be fully immersed in the learning experience. Since 2018, half of all of our short courses have been delivered at women-only institutions.

Starting on July 1, we will return for our third short course at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Bangkok, Thailand.

SWU was founded in 1974. The philosophy of the university is to utilize higher education to promote growth in five key areas: faith (self-awareness), sacred precepts (ethics), attentiveness (continuous learning), abandonment (generosity), and wisdom. The university began with six faculties the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Science, the Faculty of Social Science, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Physical Education, and the Graduate School.

Rachel Warnick, PROWIBO veteran, will be teaching a course titled “Contemporary Communications”. Rachel first volunteered with PROWIBO in 2018 as a member of our all-female program at the Karamat Husain Muslim Girls PG College Lucknow, India.

Rachel’s course will examine the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a springboard for building 21st-century communication skills and will feature a special guest lecture from Tessy de Nassau, PROWIBO Co-founder and Director of Logistics.

This summer our program expands beyond the classroom. On July 2nd, PROWIBO in partnership with LSE Ideas, Gulf Futures Center and Srinakharinwirot University, will host Women, Development and Higher Education. This event aims to bring together stakeholders from education, NGOs, businesses and policymakers to address the difficult questions of reaching gender parity and the role that higher education has to play in this process. Speakers include: Dr. Sipim Sornbanlang of SWU, Tessy de Nassau and Rachel Warnick of PROWIBO and many more!

We are so excited to be kicking off the program cycle with such a great team! Make sure to follow PROWIBO on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin to stay up to date on our short courses and events and follow our 2019 Blog to read updates from our lecturers.
