Exploring Innovation, Design Thinking and Scientific Research, Celebrating Academic Excellence, and the End of Our First Programme at Avadh College

Our two-week long summer school at the Avadh Girls’  P.G. College has officially come to a close. To celebrate the end of this remarkable experience, Avadh Girls’ Degree College and PROWIBO have organised a final conference titled “Innovations, Design Thinking and Scientific Research in Humanities and Social Science“.

PROWIBO’s volunteer lecturers Samira Barzin and Alisha Tuldahar acted as plenary speakers for the event, offering some informative content on Scientific Research and Design Thinking to those present at the event, including students and faculty members from renowned colleges inside and outside Lucknow.

Samira delivered an enlightening session on the use of Scientific Techniques in Social Sciences research and of quantitative methods and mapping techniques, which included methods such as Arch GIS and QGIS.

Alisha discussed Design Thinking and focused on aspects like definition, utility, and its execution. According to the college’s communication team, she managed to transmute the complex process of design thinking – such as its tools and methods – into very simple terms.

The conference began with the ceremonious lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the stage. Following that, Dr. Ranjana Krishana, the Head of the English Department, delivered a Welcome Address.

Dr. Upma Chaturvedi, Principal of Avadh Girls’ Degree College, proceeded to welcome all of the guests, delegates, and participants present at the ceremony and expressed her delight in hosting the event. After Dr. Chaturvedi’s speech, Ms. Deeksha Sharma, Assistant Professor at the Department of English, delivered the concept note of the conference. She was followed by Professor Nishi Pandey, Manager and Secretary at Avadh Girls’ Degree College, who inspired participants with her speech and opened the way for deliberations.

The ceremony drew to a conclusion with a Valedictory session and certificate distribution conducted by Dr. P. Awasthi, an Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science at Avadh, and Dr. Neerja Sinha, of the Department of Commerce.

Students received prizes based on the presentations that they had given earlier in the programme. The first prize was awarded to the group Ecofac – whose members were Avadh College’s students Shambhavi Pandey, Shambhavi Dwivedi, Soumya Singh, Madiha Mazhar, Anshu Yadav, and Priyam Singh Kushwaha.

The second prize went to Technology with Nature – a group whose members were Ankita Mathur, Tamheed Azeem, Ekta Singh, Garima Arora, Muskan Jain, Muskan Tripathi, Muskan Srivastava, Nidhi Yadav, Radhika Yadav.

Finally, the third prize went to Seed Paper – a group formed by Sidhan Sabih, Anam Fatima, Safina Bano, Seema Vishwakarma, Madhvi Tiwari, and Anisha Srivastava.
